Republic of Fear|Poem

The
land of my birth:
Watch
how they stand,
Hand
in hand,
Telling
half-truths and lies
To
build their empire of power.
Can
you catch the stench
Coming
from the corridors of influence?
An
ungodly sensation
That
makes you sick!
It’s
the stink of rotten lies: beware,
It
breeds fear and mistrust!
In
this land, murderers make laws
And
ease their paths with bribes,
So
justice is long and winding,
Deaf
to cries of suffering,
And
is beyond the reach of the poor
Who
are silenced by fear.
The
hands of the lawless,
Blodd-stained
and vengeful
Are
emboldened to destroy;
Look-do
not turn away-
Look,
criminals are protected
While
the powerless fend their lives!
Come
and see
Across
hills and valleys
How
my country is abused,
Divided
and traded for false promises
In
the dark quest for power:
Behold,
the Republic of Fear!
