Do We Care|Poetry|Aron Riamroi

A child is conceived- never to see the world
Families and communities are destroyed
With no regrets or remorse
A child cries looking for the mother and parents weep for the lost
Bodies scattered on the street is the new normal
We now began to choose who lives and who dies!
Human- we all are.
But do they care?

Love has grown cold as ice
Truth has become high-priced ‘with bodyguards of lies’
Humanity has lost its meaning in the pursuit of selfish cravings
Respect is gone with the wind
Young men are in search- for the meaning of life
Human- we all are.
But do they care?

One life is more worthy because of a skin color
One race is loftier because of physical gazes
We are sucked down to the bottom by prejudicial politics
We live in a society with hatred for the other
Human- we all are.
But do they care?

Rich ones get away with crimes
But for the poor-existence in itself is a crime
The loss of livelihood for one is naught for the other
The brokenness of the poor is ignored
But the trivial acts of the rich are heard far and wide
The little privilege of the downtrodden are taken
Discrimination has become a way of life
Human- we all are.
But do they care?

We are selfish
Our world is dying
We are self-centered
Animal are endangered
We mistake the gift of God
This planet-blue and lively
As human playground
Being we all are.
But do we care?

We are blinded
Digging our own graves
We have failed to recognize our love ones
We have lifted us up at the expense of the other
We seek respect by planting fear on lives of others
Human we are.
But do we care?
