Choungkung Choungza (Inpui (Kabui) Proverbs): Going Back to The Roots (Series 2)


Every society has proverbial sayings that one adheres to or pays attention to. These old sayings are commonly used in everyday conduct as proverbs express a truth based on common sense and experiences. It is often used metaphorically or as a maxim to guide or direct everyday conduct. The following are proverbial sayings common in Inpui Naga society. Some are common variants in tribal society. The English version will be made available soon.

  

1.     Rwan ram la braamnu basa braam ga naram bi hung braam mak oh.

2.     Na ram bi khwangnu aankhwang ga rwan ram la khwang se mak oh.

3.     Naram bi laam thei rwe diga rwam ram la laam se luga uiswan kachak that theiye.

4.     Rwan ram lamang seluga rwan thot saye diga bazei mak oh.

5.     Thing koinu na mi laak ae.

6.     Lung kani lak pi baan ra tanu.

7.     Pakne pak eh dabe nampui nampang bi pak thang ngo.

8.     Nampui bi lungo, Namsa bi pak thang mak oh.

9.     Louhan ne dabe talei ring bi, louring bi lou bahan mak oh.

10.  Sanu katap totheiye Misa sung.

11.  Rwatong sung bi tui ding ongnu thei ngam maknu dan misa shung thei ngam mak ae.

12.  Thingnei kra dan amthei ye misa sung.

13.  Lungpek chungbi taren khothangnu dan misa shung nat theiye.
